M Stanley: Resumption of H20 Supply to Pressure CN Foundries Like SMIC (00981.HK)
16 Jul 2025 15:18
Nvidia (NVDA.US) has officially submitted an application to sell H20 GPUs in China, and it is expected to receive a license from the US government, according to Morgan Stanley's research report. It is estimated that the Taiwanese semiconductor supply chain is currently prepared with about 1 million units of H20 chip inventory.

However, TSMC (TSM.US) has not yet started a new production line. The resumption of H20 supply is expected to benefit TSMC and King Yuan Electronics (KYEC), but it will put pressure on Chinese local GPU foundries like SMIC (00981.HK).

Moreover, it is reported that Nvidia will launch the RTX Pro 6000 Blackwell AI chip, designed specifically for the Chinese market, in the coming months. Morgan Stanley believed that the chip's eventual performance, price and cost-effectiveness will be key considerations for Chinese cloud service providers in their procurement decisions.
